These days, story time is more than just sitting in a circle criss cross apple sauce and listening to someone’s grandma read a story barely above a whisper. In fact, most story time programs involve movement, singing, finger plays, and even crafts! They are a great activity for babies through preschool aged kids and beyond. Below is a list of my favorite story time venues in Orange County.
Orange County Public Libraries
Of course the branches of Orange County Public Libraries are at the top of the list. With programs including Chinese Story time, Persian Story time, Spanish Story time Toddler Story Time, Preschool Story Time, Activity Programs, Baby Romp, Kids Book Club/Discussion, Family Story Time, Pajama Story Time, Jump & Jive Story Time, Musical Story Time, as well as special event story times, there is something for everyone! Once Upon a Storybook
Once Upon a Storybook is a unique children’s bookstore with fairytale flair! They a number of special story time programs for kids that are sure to make any little guy or gal’s day! Visit their website double check times, and don’t forget to look at their other children’s programs!

Pottery Barn Kids
An unexpected, but surprisingly fun story time is held at Pottery Barn Kids! If you become a book club member, your little bookworm will receive a special gift after attending 5 story times.

Barnes and Noble
Barnes and Noble is yet another bookstore with a fun story time for the preschool aged munchkins. Though its more of the traditional style story time, they also sell plenty of books for grownups and have a coffee shop. You can’t beat that!

Island Tales Bookshop
This story time program is the only one on the list that isn’t free, but if you are in the mood for something a little more special Island Tales Bookshop is the place to be! Tucked back in a corner of Balboa Island, this story time is educational and includes a craft after the stories. The cost is 10$.
